Our Little VIP

Andrew was the VIP in his kindergarten class this past week. He has been waiting all year for this special week. He filled up the "me museum" in his classroom. This is an empty fish tank that he can fill with things that are very special to him. We had a lot of fun collecting things from around the house and my little organizer neatly set it all up on Monday morning. Since I forgot to take a picture, some of the things he included were...his shark in a jar, hot wheel cars, monster trucks, best friend necklace from Ben, a picture of Oscar his World Vision boy, his drawing book, his Disneyland memory books, and his baseball cards. He also put up a bunch of pictures on the picture wall of people who are important to him. During the week he got to sit in the special VIP chair during carpet time and hold the class puppy. He wrote an autobiography with his teacher and it hung in the window all week. We also brought in his favorite snack to share with the class. On Friday he could choose someone special to come read a story to the class. He chose Uncle Jesse and Aunt TT to come read. We made a special trip to Barnes and Noble during the week to pick out a new book. He chose a very cute book about a daddy lion. TT and Jesse also brought the class doughnuts as a special treat. One thing we didn't get to do, which is normally done during VIP week is to have a home visit with the teacher. It is tradition at our school that the teacher visits the student's home during their VIP week to read with them, take pictures, and have the student share some special things with their teacher. We have a long term sub, Mrs. Hurley right now because Ms. Ayala had to take a leave for her family. The home visits are being put on hold for the moment. It was a little sad that we didn't get to do this, but Andrew still had a very special week. We are very proud of our little VIP!!!
